5.9.1 isn't in debian's repos yet.
so if you want a newer zsh any
time soon you'll have to upgrade debian, build zsh yourself, or install
it from another source like homebrew
Or why not the link you mentioned?  I've already downloaded it. Thought to install it tomorrow.  Or go directly to 5.10?
debian set a custom patch level, which can mean anything they want.
Ok, so that's their own accounting, not directly 'readable' as a native zsh build number.  Old anyway, and yes I'm with Bookworm. Works perfectly so I'm lazy about upgrading.
i'm not sure what you mean. 5.9 is the full version number of the zsh
release you have.
Ah.  I thought it might be just a 'short' version'.  So it's sorta '5.9.0' one might say.
if you eventually update to 5.9.2 it will say 5.9.2.
if you mean you want ZSH_VERSION to include the patch level, i don't
think that's going to happen, but in 5.10 the `zsh --version` output
is clearer about that
You guys will have your protocols about that.  I'd want ZSH_VERSION to be fully informative, but if not, I don't doubt you have good reasons.

Thanks Dana.
