grep for 'ifn?zman' etc. also, i haven't looked closely at the changes,
but jun-ichi recently did some work on related macros like sectref and
subref that i think would be affected

i know many of those uses could be eliminated if we really wanted.
they're usually not critical, just nice to have for clarity. but i
assume we'd prefer to keep them given the work that went into them. and
maybe some are more important than others. not sure
