Good question! ... I'm trying to find examples of my issue, but without a leading command it's not really surprising that everything changes. Bad experimenting :( Come to that, if I don't have any command typed, why wouldn't the shell attempt to find one for me? Once I do have a command, then completion is just files, just as I want. Let me start viewing things that way and I'll see if I still have an issue -- maybe not. Bad expectations :(It nevertheless seems an unlikely thing to want. What are you going to do with that file name after you've completed it?
You know I wish we had the ability to delete our own questions, just like in most fora -- mind, we don't have any user level access to the archives at all. So many questions might be answered simply by being able to scan the archives, esp. when I know I've asked a given question previously. StackExchange: before you post a question their algorithm gives you a list of all previous questions that might be relevant. Heavy duty stuff tho, we might never have anything comparable.
